DOI : 10.5146/jcpath.2018.34 Aim: In recent years, the number of books published on pathology - both originally written in Turkish and translated - have increased significantly. The aim of this publication is to discuss the reasons for this increase, evaluate the books, access these books and list them in order to display this evolution for those who are interested.

Materials and Methods: We have communicated via email with publishing houses that publish medical books and requested a list of both original and translated books on the topic during a specified period (between 2008 and first half of 2018). In addition to the publication houses that replied, the webpages of publication houses were surveyed to find information on similar books during the same period.

Results: The lists received from the publishing houses and the webpages surveyed yielded 37 books originally written in Turkish and 28 books translated into Turkish. The number of such books on pathology have increased in the last four years when evaluating the last decade (between 2008 and the first half of 2018).

Conclusion: Analyzing the distribution of all books over the years, the number of books per year has been increasing and it is noteworthy that 20 books have been published in 2017. The increase in pathology books in Turkish indicates a demand from the Turkish pathology community and that this demand is being met better and better. In our view, the increase in the number of books on pathology published in Turkish - especially with current and rich scientific contents - is contributing and will continue to contribute to the ongoing education of pathologists.
