  Introduction

Fibrous hamartoma of infancy is rare but is important for clinicians and families that it is benign and readily amenable to treatment. Awareness of this presentation of fibrous hamartoma of infancy may avert misdiagnosis of more aggresive lesions and malignancies

Case Report

A 12 month boy presented with a subcutaneous mass on chest Wall. This was treated with local excision and there has been no recurrence.

Histopathological examination of the lesion revealed that it was composed of collagen bundles and fibrous tissue interspersed with adipose tissue, primitive mesencyme arranged in nests, concentric whorls or bands. Mitosis and necrosis were absent. Immunohistochemically cells were reactive for Vimentin, smooth muscle actin and CD34 and HMB45, S100 and Desmin were immuno-negative.

Conclusion

In this report, the result of the immunohistochemical study on the case are reported. The differential diagnostic problems are discussed.
