  INTRODUCTION

Fallopian tube papillomas are detected rarely and there is only 13 cases in english literature. Papillomas with fibrovascular cores with epithelial lining can be diagnosed incidentally or obstruction of the fallopian tube causing hydrosalpinx or as an adnexal mass.

CASE REPORT

We aimed to discuss two cases of fallopian tube papilloma in this report.

Case 1

A 32 years old, gravida 3, live 3 woman was referred to emergency department with abdominal pain. Right salpingectomy was performed with suspicion of ectopic pregnancy. Macroscopically 3,5x2x1 cm-diameter with hydropic appearance fallopian tube was seen. Cut surface showed papillary structures filling the lumen measuring 0,7x 0,6 cm diameter. On histopathologic examination fibrovascular cores lined by tall columnar cells was detected. Fallopian tube papilloma was diagnosed. No recurrence was detected in postoperative follow-up.

Case 2

A 41 years old, gravida 1, 40 week pregnant woman was taken to caesarean section (C/S) due to oligohydramnios. During surgery incidental paratubal cyst was detected. She underwent cystectomy and partial salpingectomy and delivered a healthy child with C/S. Grossly 2,5 cm long, 1,5 cm widht, gray white colored fallopian tube fimbria consisting of a 3,5 cm diameter-cyst on it was present. The cyst contained serous fluid. Fimbria of fallopian tube showed excessive papillary structures in a relatively demarcated area. Microscopically beneath the serous cyst, fallopian tube papilloma was detected with papillary structures lined by tall, bland columnar cells. On the follow-up no recurrences occurred.

CONCLUSION

Fallopian tube papilloma is a rare neoplastic lesion with excellent prognosis and can be misdiagnosed as a nonneoplastic lesion such as tubal papillary hyperplasia or even as a tubal carcinoma in situ. Careful examination of the fallopian tube macroscopically and microscopically on all occasions should be done.
