DOI : 10.5146/jcpath.2019.57 Adenocarcinoma is the most common histologic subtype of lung cancer, accounting for almost half of all lung cancer. The clinical, radiological, molecular and pathological features of adenocarcinoma is quite dfferent. In 2011, the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer(IASLC), The American Thoracic Society (ATS), and the European Espiratory Society (ERS) proposed a new classification system for lung adenocarcinoma. This classification is not only a pathological classification, but also a multidisciplinary approach that includes pathogenesis, radiological findings, clinical behavior prognosis, treatment, and molecular testing. In this classification, major histological subtypes were defined and also be classified according to their predominant subtypes. An algorithm for small biopsy and cytology has been introduced and use of immunohistochemistry has become widespread. Depending on this, in 2015 a new WHO classification was issued. In this review, the classification of adenocarcinoma is summarized. Anahtar Kelimeler : Lung adenocarcinoma, Classification, Histologic subtype
