Introduction

Paratesticular mesothelioma is a rare tumor originating from tunica vaginalis. It is seen in elder individuals when compared to germ cell tumors.

Case Report

A 52-years old male patient presented with testicular swelling. The patient underwent orchiectomy due to detection of testicular mass lesion in physical examination. On H & E sections, there was a tumor composed of tubular and papillary patterns with diffuse necrotic areas, which was localized at tissue surrounding testis. Tumor cells have large hyperchromatic nuclei, prominent nucleoli and scanty cytoplasm. On microscopic examination, epididymis and rete testis were unremerkable. On immunohistochemical analysis, tumor cells stained with Calretinin, D240, WT1, CA 125 and p53 diffusely. But it was negative for PAX 8, ER, MOC 31, Inhibin alpha and BerEp4. It was diagnosed as malignant epithelial type mesothelioma originating from tunica vaginalis.

Conclusion

Paratesticular mesotheliomas are extremely rare tumors.
